Change over switch

CHANGE OVER SWITCH

Is an electrical switch that switches a load between two sources.

The main purpose of this switch is to switch electrical power between two sources without any fault easily, manually, or automatically.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF CHANGE OVER SWITCH

  • Automatic change over switch
  • Manual change over switch

What is automatic change over switch?

Is an electrical switch that switches to the other power source automatically once the main source stops providing power.

What is a manual change over switch?

Is an electrical switch that is used to switch to the other power source manually.

Change over switches are categorized as follows

  •  2 Poles (N and L)
  •  3 Poles (L1, L2, and L3)
  • 4 Poles (L1, L2, L3, and N)

PRECAUTION MEASURE BEFORE THE INSTALLATION

  • Disconnect the power source before servicing, repairing or installing electrical equipments.
  • Use the proper cable in size.
  • Never try to work on electricity without proper guidance and care.
  • Work with electricity only in presence of those persons who has good knowledge and practical work and experience who know how to deal with electricity.
  • Read all the instructions, user manuals, cautions and follow them strictly.
  • Doing your own electrical work is dangerous as well as illegal in some areas. Contact the licensed electrician or the power supply company before practicing any change in electrical wiring connection.

How to wire A single Phase motor

A single-phase induction motor is composed of a single-phase winding located on the  Stator and a cage windings on the rotor. When a single-phase power supply is applied to the stator winding, it generates a pulsating magnetic field. Due to inertia, the rotor remains stationary in this pulsating field. The structure of the single phase induction motor determines that the reverse rotation is generally completed by hardware.   Internal wiring structure of single-phase induction motor           Why there is a capacitor?   1.In the original setup, both the main coil and the auxiliary coil receive power simultaneously, creating equal electromagnetic forces that oppose each other, preventing the rotor from turning.  2 .  To make the magnetic field force rotate, it can be achieved by passing alternating currents of different phase sequencing the main coil and the auxiliary coil.
