Voltage is the pressure from an electrical circuit's power source that pushes charged electrons (current) through a conducting loop, enabling them to do work such as illuminating light. 

The term Volt(V) recognizes Italian physicist Alessandro Volta (1745-1827), inventor of the voltaic pile—the forerunner of today's household battery.

Voltage is either alternating current (AC) voltage or direct current (DC) voltage. 

How can we measure Voltage?

How to measure voltage in the circuit?


Voltage formula 

V=I×R                  (Voltage = Current × Resistance )

Example 1;

Find the Voltage in the circuit below (Emf)


Data given;
R=8
I=5
Formula
V=I×R
V=5×8= 40
V=40
Therefore, E=40

When a single-phase power supply is applied to the stator winding, it generates a pulsating magnetic field.
