Fire
Fire is a combination of three things which are oxygen, heat, and fuel.
Or it can defined as is a chemical reaction known as combustion, which occurs when a material combines with oxygen in the presence of heat, producing light, heat, and various reaction products, typically including carbon dioxide and water. For fire to occur, three elements are necessary, often referred to as the "fire triangle":
Fuel
Any combustible material that can undergo combustion, such as wood, paper, gasoline, or natural gas.
Oxygen
Typically from the air, which supports the chemical reactions of combustion.
Heat
Sufficient energy to raise the fuel to its ignition temperature.
NOTE:When these three elements are present in the right conditions, a sustained fire can occur. The visible flame is the result of the heated gases emitting light as they react.
Fire has been crucial for human civilization, providing warmth, a means to cook food, and a way to produce energy. However, uncontrolled fires can be destructive, leading to wildfires, property damage, and loss of life.
How to fight Fire?
We can fight fire by using mentioned below equipments, each equipment fights special type of fire.
- Water fire fighting equipments.
- Dry powder fire fighting equipments.
- Foam fire fighting equipments.
- CO² fire fighting equipments.
Types of Fire
There are five types of fire,
- Class A - Fire for ordinary combustible such as wood, plastic and paper burning. |Fire extinguisher for this class is A, Water type fire extinguisher, it's code is RED|
- Class B - Fire caused by gases, and flammable liquids such as diesel, Gasoline, Petrol, Paint and Grease. |Fire extinguisher for this class are dry powder chemicals, Sand, and Carbon dioxide. It's code is CREAM |
- Class C - Fire caused by electrical instruments or devices such as motor, switches | Fire extinguisher for this are dry chemical powder sand and carbon dioxide. It's code is BLUE|
- Class D - fire caused by combustibles metal such as magnesium, zinc and sodium. | fire extinguisher for this class are dry chemical powder carbon dioxide and Sand. It's code is BLACK|
- Class E - fire Caused by cooking oils and facts. | fire extinguisher for this is form and CO². It's code is PURPLE|
